Salvation Army Lieutenant Meshelle Henry says they had to wait for test results before doing any work on the apartment.
Those results showed a slight positive indicator. So a Hazmat team is removing all carpet and furniture and cleaning all surfaces.
No other apartments in the building are contaminated.
"We're making sure the apartment is clean, ready and safe for any new clients coming in," says Lt. Henry.
She adds they're glad to provide apartments for people in the community that need a place to stay and get back on their feet, but safety for residents is a top priority.
