Five Wood County residents are headed to Tampa, Florida for next week's Republican National Convention.
One is Gladys Lemley of Vienna, who in addition to going to the convention for the first time, is President of the West Virginia Federation of Republican Women.
She disagrees with reports, such as this week's controversy involving U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin, which characterize the GOP as being anti-woman.
"They have attended our meetings, they have talked with us," Lemley says, "and I find that every one of the male candidates are very supportive of the women and the work we do in West Virginia."
Wood County residents Bob and Barbara Fish, Louie Rexroad and Alan Ross will also be heading to Tampa.
Third district congressional candidate Rick Snuffer, who is challenging long-time Democratic congressman Nick Rahall, will address the convention Monday night.
