They're working hard to help folks around the valley stop smoking.

Jamie Jacobsen, regional tobacco prevention coordinator for the Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department says her tobacco smoking and cessation classes are free and open to the public.

When people call, she can give or send them information and they're welcome to stop in and talk. She will do anything she can to help people who want to quit.

"We're doing a lot with education," Jacobsen says. "People are starting to learn about why tobacco is bad for you and how it affects your health and a lot of older people didn't know that when they started smoking years ago. The facts are changing everyday and we're learning new things everyday."

Jacobsen says many people are seeing the truth that they need to stop smoking sooner rather than later.

The good news is that a lot more resources are available than there used to be if you want to quit.
