It happened Tuesday night on Ridgeway Avenue in Parkersburg.
Police say the victim called 911 after seeing a man he knew inside the home moving around from room to room.
They say the suspect, Kenneth Edge, tried to run, but the homeowner and a neighbor didn't let him get away. The two were able to detain Edge until police arrived.
Officers say Edge had stolen cash and prescription pills.
He's been released on a 35 thousand dollar bond. If convicted, Edge could spend one to 15 years in prison.
