Roadways are now reopened.

Authorities with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office say an accident along Interstate 77 has both southbound lanes closed near mile marker 150.

According to Dave Barb, with the West Virginia Division of Highways, personnel are on their way to the scene now and will set up a detour on Medina Road as soon as possible.

A witness driving north on I-77 says it looks as though a tractor trailer lost control and crossed the median into the southbound lanes. He adds that the trailer's cargo is littered across the highway and traffic is severely backed up.

No further details on the accident or those involved are being released at this time. Stay tuned to WTAP News and wtap.com for the latest details as they become available.
