Digging into History

Kids archaeology day is the first of its kind.

Activities throughout the day help kids learn a little something new while having a lot of fun.

The museum also teamed with the geology department at Marietta College. Students set up a dinosaur display with a simulated dig so kids could find their own hidden treasure.

It's an experience to get younger generations interested in history and what lies beneath.

"This is the perfect opportunity to do something hands on, showing them what people used years and years ago. What they might find out there we have someone here who can identify artifacts. We have a man doing flint mapping with kids. They can make their own arrowhead to take home plus they're getting to use artifacts so its been a really really great day. Way more than we could have even hoped for," says education and program director Glenna Hoff.
