UPDATE 2/20/2014 5:05 PM
It's the dare devil event that had everybody talking but never happened.
The plan for Robbie Knievel jumping the Ohio River is back.
Organizer Wei Sheng says the new date is set for July.
He says this way it will not interfere with other events.
He says the paperwork for the U.S. Coast Guard and West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has been filled out, but not submitted and they are aware of the event.
Other plans, sponsorship and permits are still in the works.
Sheng says he has been keeping in contact with the mayors on both sides of the river.
Although, Mayor Jean Ford tell us she has not heard from him in a while.
Sheng says Ohio Outdoor Heaven is gaining sponsorships and in the spring they will have the next big announcement.
UPDATE 6:16 PM
The Leap and Walk of Faith has been postponed until July 2014.
Wei Sheng says under the time constraint, they could not do and plan everything they wanted to. They wanted the event to be on national television and Sheng says with football in October, that was not possible. He says the weather and waiting on permits was an issue as well.
Sheng says there was no negative response from government agencies, no one has turned them down.
The Leap and Walk of Faith has been postponed until 2014.
Outdoor Heaven Coordinator Wei Sheng says, the Leap and Walk of Faith scheduled for October 19th has been postponed until the summer of 2014.
The event was suppose to happen October 16th through the 19th this year.
Robbie Knievel was scheduled to jump across the Ohio River and Rick Wallenda was going to walk across the Ohio River on a tight rope.
Sheng says there was not enough time to put everything together.
This dare devil event was all part of a promotion for Ohio Outdoor Heaven.
