Friday, the Wood County 911 Center recognizes a local boy for being brave in the face of an emergency and calling for help.
8 year-old Ashton Dugan, called 911 two weeks ago when his one month-old brother wasn't breathing.
Dugan received the first ever Wood County 911 Heroes Award.
He's recognized for his courage and ability to stay calm.
"We want to give a message out to the public, for parents and obviously school systems and so forth to teach kids because of these types of instances how to call 9-1-1 and be prepared for the questions that maybe asked of them," says Wood County 911 Director, Randy Lowe.
The reception also honored Danielle Parrish as the 2012 Telecommunicator of the Year.
