Helping women overcome substance abuse in the valley. A program through Westbrook Health Services focuses on helping women recover.
The Gensis program works to improve the lives of women overcoming substance abuse.
It's a huge problem in our area, but experts say this program is working.
By helping women become contributing members of society, this program works together with patients, their families, and the community.
"The goal of our program is recovery and family reunification. We do a lot of services for them. We do a lot of group therapy. Our main goal is to help a woman stay sober and to teach her some of the life skills that might be needed to care for her family," says Westbrook Health Services Women's Services Director, Melissa Nelson.
The Genesis program is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser this week. It's Thursday, April 25th at 6:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg.
