"Mad Max" Receives Award

They call him "Mad Max" and now they will call him a cornerstone.

Larry Maxwell is the third recipient of the "Cornerstone of our Community Award". A retired teacher of 37 years, who also has a famous helmet. Still volunteering in the community, Maxwell reads to children at the New Era School House.

"As a teacher and a educator this means the world to me, I had the greatest profession that a man could have is teaching young people. And to be honored by your community is a cornerstone, it is very awe inspiring and it's a humbling, humbling experience for me," said Larry Maxwell.

The award gives Maxwell, $500 to donate to a permanent cause and $500 to go to a charity of his choice. He is the third of ten recipients that were nominated by the community.
