Marietta Man Thrown From Car in ICU

By  |

A Marietta man is seriously injured after the car he was in jumped an embankment and landed in the Ohio River.

Police believe alcohol is a factor.

Marietta police say on Monday, Ronald Welch Jr. and another rider were in a car on Virginia Street when it went off the right side of the road, over the embankment and into the car in the river. Police say they're still investigating who was driving.

Welch was ejected from the car. Both riders were both taken to Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Welch has since been moved to the ICU at Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
