UPDATE: Suspect Found In Jackson Co. Manhunt

The suspect who escaped police custody in Ripley on Thursday afternoon has been found.

West Virginia State Police say 21 year old Joe Myers forcibly escaped the detachment.

They say he hurt a trooper in the process.

He was on the run for hours in Jackson County. No word on why Myers was under arrest before he escaped.

The trooper isn't being named, but police say he's expected to be okay.

A manhunt is underway for a suspect in Jackson County on early Thursday evening.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office says Jackson County asked for assistance with their aviation unit to search above with a helicopter.

They confirm the search is being conducted in Jackson County.
