Marietta Bed Tax Up

Even in the cold winter months people are still visiting Marietta and staying overnight.

The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau reports the bed tax in Marietta is up 2.5 percent in January.

This is money from everyone that buys a hotel room in Marietta.

Overall in 2013, numbers were up 14 percent and they continue to see positive trends.

One side of things, the oil and gas workers staying in hotels.

But also the CVB is seeing an increase in leisure travel.

They are looking forward to the busy season - spring and summer - but also partnering up with Parkersburg and planning new events and tours this March.
