A man in Meigs County shot himself after shooting his ex-girlfriend and her daughter Friday.
Sheriff Robert Beegle said that the shootings happened about 2:15 p.m. at a home on Taylor Road in the Chester area.
The woman was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington with serious injuries.
Her daughter was taken to a hospital in Point Pleasant. Her Injuries were non-life threatening.
The man was in critical condition at hospital in West Virginia until his death Friday evening.
The troubles all started when the man and woman appeared in court at a civil protection hearing Friday morning.
According to Sheriff Beegle, the man was supposed to leave the woman alone as a result of the hearing.
The man was told to retrieve his property from their Taylor Road home.
When he showed up, the man opened fire on his ex-girlfriend and her daughter.
"When we arrived the subject was in the field with a shotgun,” Beegle said. “He didn't put the gun down. We kept telling him to put it down. He suddenly kneeled, put the gun under his chin, and shot."
The woman's brother says she is 68 and her daughter is in her late 40s.
The names of the victims and the shooter has not been released at this time.
