Memorial Day Ceremony At Sunset Memory Gardens

By  |

Across the country, people are taking time out to remember those who fought for our country.

Several services Saturday honor the memory of veterans in our area.

The Memory Gardens hosted its 56th annual Memorial Day Service.

People gathered to remember loved ones who lost their life in the line of duty.

American flags were also placed throughout the garden.

Guest speakers read the names of the 44 servicemen who died last year.

"Without those people, we wouldn't be able to do things we're able and blessed to do each day to have a business, to be able to serve the community. These gentlemen put their lives on the line and some of them made the ultimate sacrifice so that we could be free," says Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Managing Funeral Director, Cole Waybright.

The Parkersburg South High School Air Force Junior ROTC helped place the veteran flags on the memorials.

People in attendance also got to see a 21 gun salute, the laying of the wreaths and the presentation of the colors.
