September is National Preparedness Month. Are you prepared if a emergency or disaster was to happen in your area?
That's what the Washington County Emergency Management Agency is asking everyone.
Director Jeff Lauer says you need to be making your disaster kit so that you're ready to survive on your own for three days.
Now this is a national program, the government is reminding everyone before the winter approaches.
"Make a plan. Get a kit and build it. And we understand that not everybody can do it at once, it's a good thing to get started this month and make your plan. And then start building your kit and you can buy a little bit out of each pay day until you get it built up," said Lauer.
Lauer says your kit should have water, non-perishable food items, medicines and your families essential supplies.
The Washington County EMA is also currently preparing and getting their new location all set up if something were to happen.
