If Senate Bill 10 is enacted in Ohio, those convicted could face harsher sentencing.
However -- the new law can't be imposed on defendants whose crimes were committed before the 2007 law.
According to Washington County Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Tornes, the pre 2007 laws held lesser punishments for sex offenders. "If they plead guilty to or are found guilty to prior to 2008 then they have to be sentenced to the old law. Prior to Senate Bill 10, the Adam Walsh Act."
