Ohio has been informed that it has been approved for assistance for local non-profit groups.
The U.S. Small Business Administration says the low-interest disaster loans are available to local governments organizations such as food kitchens, homeless shelters, libraries and schools.
In most cases, these organizations have already spent money cleaning up debris from this summer's storms.
"Most of the information I got was from local governments such as townships, those cleaning roads and cleaning debris," says Jeff Lauer, Director of the Washington County Emergency Management Agency. "Also, the electric co-operative is eligible; they had lots of damage."
a public meeting to discuss the assistance is set for friday morning at ten a-m, at the holiday inn on newport pike in marietta.
the meeting will be for local governments, schools and universities and some private non-profit organizations.
