On the eve of perhaps the season's first severe weather, local transportation officials say they're prepared.
The Ohio Department of Transportation has 26 trucks serving Washington County.
Friday at their county garage in Marietta, ODOT crews performed routine maintenance on the trucks, making sure they're ready when needed.
Officials say fighting ice and snow is what ODOT does best.
"Our drivers are very well trained and the way we have it is that drivers have a certain truck and a certain route," says ODOT Public Information Officer David Rose. "So they are experts in using that truck and using that truck on that priority route."
Rose adds that the department is performing its annual winter maintenance inspection.
All plows across southeast Ohio's 9 counties receive a full inspection of all parts to ensure crews are working with the best equipment.
