OMEGA Raises Funds For Children Through Community Donations

By  |

Local children in need are getting some help thanks to the West Virginia Oil Marketers & Grocers Association.

During a four week campaign, OMEGA raised over 93 thousand dollars for the Children's Home Society of West Virginia.

The funds will be used to support programs like emergency child shelters, foster care and mentoring.

Mother's Day paper flowers were sold at OMEGA member convenience and grocery stores throughout the state. It's the one dollar donation through those purchases that helped this fundraising effort.

"We serve our communities. We're there in the morning to give you your coffee, your newspaper. We are community based. We do a lot of things in our communities. We give ice to little leagues. We give hot dog buns to churches, but we wanted to do something state wide to make an impact," says Jan Vineyard, OMEGA President.

Over the past three years, OMEGA members raised 246 thousand dollars for the campaign. Since 2003, they've raised 1.6 million dollars for West Virginia children.
