UPDATE: OU Rape Suspect Sentenced

Levi Canterbury is sentenced to seven years in prison.

A jury found him guilty of two counts of rape on July 31.

Canterbury is also ordered to pay over $8,000 in restitution.

He will be registered as a tier III sex offender for the rest of his life.

An Athens County jury finds a man guilty of raping an Ohio University student. It took two days of deliberations.

Levi Canterbury was found guilty of two counts of rape.

In September of 2011, the victim was walking home alone and intoxicated. Canterbury offered to give her a ride.

Police say he then took her to a parking lot and raped her.

He'll be sentenced to between 3 and 11 years in prison. He'll also have to register as a sex offender.

He's being held without bond and will be sentenced within two weeks.
The 21-year old accused of raping an area college student has been indicted.

An Athens County Grand Jury indicted Levi Canterbury of Gallipolis, Thursday afternoon.

He faces two counts of rape.

According to a news release from the Athens County Prosecutor's Office, Canterbury raped a female Ohio University student on September 10.

Canterbury's arraignment has been set for October 19 in front of Judge Alan Goldsberry.
