Operation Christmas Child began taking donations for their week long drive.

The goal is to make n9,000 shoe boxes during National Shoebox Collection Week. Each shoebox is filled with personal items such as a toothbrush and toothpaste, then sent to needy children around the world.

Donation sites are located in several counties for easy drop-off. Volunteers say this program helps thousands of children realize that people do care about their future.

"Children that are living in a situation they have no control over. These children have no hope. Every day is the same. A lot of them wonder where their next meal is coming from," says Parkersburg area coordinator MartiLou Wright. "If we can spread a little bit of joy and happiness and share with them it will change their whole world. They have hope in another day and the future will be brighter than the last one was," she says.

Drop-off locations include:
Fairlawn Baptist Church
Trinity UM Church
Emmanuel Baptist Church
First Baptist Church
The Old Country Church
Elizabeth Baptist Church
First Assembly of God
Calvary Baptist Church
Parchment Valley Baptist Church
West Union Baptist Church
Indian Creek Southern Baptist Church
Glenville Community Church
