It’s their 50th anniversary this Friday and the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation is celebrating with a tour of the Actors Guild, Parkersburg Art Center and Smoot Theater.

There's a vibrant cultural life in the community.

"We do have have a wonderful arts district and a wonderful arts representation in Parkersburg and there's something to do every night if you're interested in doing it,” says Carrie Nesselrode, executive director of Downtown PKB.

And a progressive tour of downtown will show just that.

According to foundation Executive Director Judy Sjostedt, "you’ll start at the guild and get to see some of the folks from this year's programs in costume and have some nice hors d'oeuvres."

One mainstay is part of the mix.

"As Judy said, we're going to be showcasing the Actors Guild," Nesselrode says.

Tap into your creative side.

"Then a short while later you'll go across the street to the Parkersburg Art Center and have some heavier hors d'oeuvres, more like a meal,” Sjostedt says.

There's more than just the sights and sounds.

"We’re doing demonstrations in the clay lab -- and demonstrations in the adult classroom,” says art center Executive Director Abby Hayhurst.

It's history in the making.

"And then a short while beyond that, you'll go down to the Smoot Theater, where you have dessert,” Sjostedt says.

They're kicking it off in style.

"This is the first year for the event," Nesselrode says. "We would love to see it become an annual thing that we would do, whether it's in the spring to change up the season, from that perspective.”

At each location, you will learn firsthand the impact of the Foundation's contributions to the arts in Parkersburg.

Executive Director Judy Sjostedt says 100 percent of the ticket price is going to be split between the three art groups.

The foundation is completely underwriting the cost of the event.

"You'll start here at the Guild and get to see some of the folks from this year's programs in costume and have some nice hors d'oeuvres," Sjostedt says. "Then a short while later you'll go across the street to the Parkersburg Art Center and have some heavier hors d'oeuvres -- more like a meal, and then a short while beyond that, you'll go down to the Smoot Theater, where you have dessert."

She says at the Smoot Theater there's a souvenir calendar that Chapman Printing has provided and Paul Borelli has generously supplied the photos.
