UPDATE: Fire investigators say evidence suggests an accelerant was used in the house fire.

The Parkersburg Fire Department was called out Sunday evening to a structure fire on 6th Avenue and Division Street.

According to Parkersburg Fire Chief Eric Taylor, crews were called to 2004 6th Avenue at 7:23 Sunday night. When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke and flames in the second story of the home.

The home was not being lived in and neither gas or electricity were being supplied to the home.

Chief Taylor says there is no reason a vacant home without utilities should catch on fire and asks anyone with information as to what may have caused the blaze to call the Parkersburg Fire Department at (304) 424-8470.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
