On Friday, Parkersburg police arrested Rocky Woodyard at his mother's apartment on Burke Street.

Woodyard is on parole for a drug conviction and was wanted for multiple parole violations.

According to police, when the parole officer arrived he saw Woodyard enter the home. The officer tried to get through the front door, but it was barricaded. That's when Woodyard swung a hammer at the officer breaking a front window.

Police say they had to break down the front door to arrest him. He's in the Wood County Holding Center. Woodyard will be taken to the Regional Jail awaiting parole board review.
