UPDATE: House Fire Ruled Accidental

A Parkersburg home destroyed and fire investigators are now ruling it accidental.

Fire Chief Eric Taylor says investigators determined the origin was near the front door. He says the cause was electrical.

The house is a complete loss. No one was home at the time, but Chief Taylor cautions residents to pre-plan two ways out if a fire were to happen in your house.

He says this fire is a classic example of why that's important.

The call came in at about 3 Tuesday afternoon. Flames were coming out the front door when firefighters arrived at the Pike Street home.

Parkersburg Fire Chief Eric Taylor says the fire spread quickly through the house. They were originally concerned about some gas tankers parked about 100 yards away. But firefighters got the flames under control before it could spread.

The house is a complete loss. No one was home at the time.

While en route to the the home, a fire truck and another car were involved in an accident. The accident took out a utility pole.

Authorities are asking drivers to avoid pike street between Route 95, Camden Avenue and Broadway Avenue.

Firefighters are responding to a house fire in the 600 block of Pike Street in Parkersburg.

A Wood County 911 Supervisor says the fire is fully involved with flames and smoke showing.

While en route to the the home, a fire truck and another car were involved in an accident with possible entrapment.

The accident also took out a utility pole.

Authorities are asking drivers to avoid Pike Street between Route 95, Camden Avenue and Broadway Avenue.
