A two week old murder in Morgan County and there's still no suspect in custody. Many in the community believe they're being left in the dark.
"People killing each other, it's not right," says McConnelsville resident, Stewart Boggs.
A murder on June 12th leaves the community with many unanswered questions. It happened in front of a house on Riverview Road near Malta.
Another resident, Trent McDaniel, says he doesn't know what happened the night of the murder, but has heard things from people talking around town. "I know six or seven different stories but don't really know what happened."
And police don't know what happened to the suspect. 39-year-old Timmy Stevens, is in hiding. He's charged with the murder of 36-year-old John Davis III.
Resident Debbie Burfield says the only information she's heard is rumors around town.
"We just don't know nothing, we don't know anything about where the guy is or where he's hiding out."
While officials in McConnelsville still aren't releasing details about the murder, one thing is for sure, people in this town are still talking.
"That's the talk of the town around here. It's the guy that killed the other guy. They're looking for him. They had helicopters out and the search dogs out, but still no such luck. They still haven't found the guy," Burfield adds.
But police did find the body of the victim, 10 days after the murder and about a 1/2 mile from the street where he was shot.
Burfield says this is what she heard. "They did find the body. It was at Bald Eagle. They found him in the ravine with one bullet wound to the head."
A tight knit community on their guard with a murderer on the loose.
"Around here you don't trust nobody," Burfield says.
Boggs says, "it does (concern me) a little bit, but not to the point that I'm scared."
"He may be around here, maybe not. I think that was kind of a family type situation," McDaniel explains.
WTAP went to Morgan County to see if the sheriff would appear on camera and our request was denied. He's repeatedly refused any comment related to this case.
