Prosecutors will be allowed to present evidence of discussions Larry Gale Owens had with law enforcement investigators.

Police say Owens killed Jeffery Hughart in a fight last June, and those discussions centered around his involvement in the incident.

Jury selection in Owens trial is set for august 31st.

He was arrested a week ago for murder in Wood County.

A hearing is held for Larry Owens.

Wednesday the judge denied Owens' request for $25,000 bond.

Instead, no bond was set and Owens remains in custody at the North Central Regional Jail.

His case was bound over to circuit court to be prepared for grand jury.

Owens is accused of getting into a fight last week with Jeffery Hughart.

Hughart later died at the hospital.

Owens faces a first degree murder charge.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office says the body of 46 year old, Jeffery Allen Hughart was found in Parkersburg around 12:30 Wednesday morning at 1317 Staunton Avenue.

Chief Deputy Shawn Graham says, Hughart was discovered by a neighbor in his own backyard.

Chief Deputy Graham says the victim was believed to be in a fight then hit by an object and knocked unconscious.

"(Led us to) a location on Happy Valley Lane out in Wood County where it was determined that a fight had occurred between two individuals, the victim and the defendant," says Chief Graham. "As a result of the fight, the victim was injured. He was placed by the defendant and others in a vehicle and transported to the area of his residence, the 1300 block of Staunton Ave."

He says the victim was not dead upon arrival but was then taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office says the truck was then found at the home of Larry Gale Owens who was arraigned on the murder charge.

Investigators say he admitted to the murder.

Others could face charges.

The Parkersburg Police Department says they are investigating a possible homicide that happened over night.

Sgt. Riffle is currently investigating.
