Historical court documents dating back to the 1700s have been sitting on the fourth floor of the Washington County Courthouse.
Washington County Common Pleas Judge Ed Lane says he has been trying to do something with them for almost 15 years.
Thursday the Washington County Commissioners signed a resolution for the creation of a fund for historical document preservation.
"We want to get them digitized so they are readily available to the public and to government officials and that the originals are preserved," says Judge Lane.
Family Search, a church from Salt Lake City, will be doing this work.
They will clean them and put them into proper storage containers.
Judge Lane says the whole area on the fourth floor will be organized for future generations.
Family Search started within the past week but the real work may not begin until January.
