President Obama Submits Budget Proposal to Congress

Shortly after sending his budget to Congress, President Obama defended the plan in a statement from the White House rose garden.

Republican leaders wasted no time blasting the President and his budget plan.

"If we want to keep rebuilding our economy on a stronger, more stable foundation, we've got to get smarter about our priorities as a nation. And that's what the budget I'm sending to Congress today represents. A fiscally responsible blueprint for middle class jobs and growth," says President Obama.

"The American people know you can't continue to spend money that you don't have. The federal government has spent more than what it has brought in 55 of the last 60 years," says House Majority Leader Rep. John Boehner.

It also includes a short-term stimulus package for road and bridge construction, meant to increase employment.
