Protecting Your Pets from the Cold

By  |

It's that time of year to make sure you take extra precautions to protect your pets from the cold.

The Humane Society of Parkersburg does everything it can to educate the public on how to keep your pets healthy... and warm!

"When it gets as cold as it's going to be this week the best thing to do is bring them indoors or an enclosed porch or even the basement," says Director Maryann Hollis. "The more protection they have from the elements the better because hypothermia can set in very, very quickly."

Hollis says that's the last thing anyone wants to happen because it can be deadly.

A pet that appears lethargic or not moving well should be wrapped in blankets and warmed gradually.

It also probably means taking a trip to the vet to be safe.
