Ray of Light Award Honors Local Volunteer

Ray Boso started as a volunteer for the organization, but then worked as construction supervisor for 10 years.

In that time he oversaw the construction of more than 30 homes. He has since retired, but at 87-years-old still inspires many to volunteer.

So habitat for humanity is honoring his efforts.

"It's just really important. We want to honor our volunteers. And we were thinking of a way to do that and we though if we could make an award in his honor to then give to a volunteer periodically that goes above and beyond would be just great," says Wood County Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Alvin Phillips.

The Ray of Light Award will be given annually to an outstanding volunteer.

Phillips says the first award recipient will be announced within the next few months.
