Ohioans apply for concealed carry permits in record numbers again.
The state attorney general's office says new and renewal licenses issued last year were the most annually since the law went into effect a decade ago.
That's also true in Washington County.
Concerns about crime and changes in gun laws are possible reasons for the increase, but so is a recently-enacted change in Ohio law.
In 2013, Washington County issued nearly 870 new and renewed concealed carry permits.
That's an increase of more than 400 from 2012, also a record year.
