Remembering Pearl Harbor

In honor of the 72nd anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, a group of local veterans held a wreath laying ceremony Saturday morning.

People gathered on the Putnam Street Bridge in Marietta to honor those Americans who lost their lives and who also survived that surprise attack 72 years ago.

Vets with the American Veterans Lodge 1788 took time out to remember those men and women by putting wreaths at several locations around downtown.

"Well we always figure somebody has to do it or nobody will ever remember it, and that's the main thing, you got to remember the bad and the good," says James Rhodes who served in the U.S. Army.

Marietta Mayor, Joe Matthews and other members of the armed forces were among the guests at Saturday morning's ceremony.
