Rescuing Pets From Overpopulated Shelters

By  |

The Humane Society of Parkersburg along with PetSmart Charities are teaming up to help stop the high pet populations.

They started the Rescue Waggin' program to transport adoptable dogs and puppies from the area to shelters that have more space and opportunities for a new home.

The Humane Society of Parkersburg will select a number of our four-legged friends to be transported each month.

So far Saturday, they collected 11 dogs and puppies.

"We know that there are other shelters and rescues in mostly the northeast from our area that can handle taking in more animals. They have stricter spray and neuter laws and more readily available spray and neuter so they can take more animals," says Humane Society of Parkersburg Executive Director, Maryann Hollis.

The Rescue Waggin' will continue in July on the 9th and 23rd.
