Ribbon Cut on New Kraton Innovation Center

A big day for an area plant, opening up a new $40 million facility.

This means jobs and a leg up for Belpre.

It's adding 11 jobs to the area and possibly more in the future, putting the Kraton facility in Belpre on the global map.

A new Kraton Innovation Center officially opened in March of 2014.

The company says they chose Belpre for this because it has everything to support this project, from the employees to the community.

The new center will be working on development samples without depending on commercial production.

"Bridge between what we do in the R and D facilities and obviously what we do in the real production lines. So we can take what technology we can develop in the labs, and produce it on a smaller scale here in this new semi works line and then once successful and the customer proves the technology then we can make it for you in the manufacturing line," says Kevin Fogarty, Kraton CEO.

Fogarty says this is a very efficient way of doing things and something they have been working towards.

This improves the overall competitivenes of this site and for the longevity of Belpre.

Many people were at the ribbon cutting Wednesday, from state senators to county commissioners.
