Ride To Remember Calls Out Local Bikers

The muggy weather may have decreased attendance but that didn't stop area bikers from coming out to support a good cause.

Dozens of motorcyclists headed to Vienna's Fishbone Gill and Grill to take part in the fourth annual "Ride to Remember" for the Alzheimer's Association.

Organizers say the early showers impacted the attendance but everyone who showed was greatly appreciated. They add, money raised will go to benefit the "Walk to Remember" in October and help fund much needed research and education on the disease.

"People years ago just thought it was an old age disease that just old people had it. And now they're starting to find out it's a real nasty disease," says co-organizer Jeff Garvey.

"We've all been touched by Alzheimer's and we want to make a difference in some of the things that we do," adds Angie Deaton, co-organizer.

Celebration at the Fishbone Gill and Grill will continue Saturday evening. Deaton says everyone is welcome to attend and support Alzheimer's research and education.
