Route 550 Accident Injures 4 People; Including 2 Children

Ohio State Medical Center says James Brookover, the driver of the red Ford Focus, is in stable condition.

A two vehicle accident on route 550 injures four people, including two children. Those injured are recovering now.

It closed down a portion of the road for over two hours near Johnson Road.

Both vehicles had a child in them.

'Indications are right now that one of the car (red Focus) drifted left of center and hit the van head on," explain Warren Township VFD Chief Mark Wile.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says James Brookover was driving the red Ford Focus and was flown by helicopter to Ohio State Medical Center. The 14-month old in the vehicle was sent to Marietta Memorial.

The driver of the silver van, Matthew Peckens, and the 17-month old in his car were also sent to the hospital with injuries.

Authorities say both children have been released from the hospital.

"We got the call around 7:51 this morning and arrived on scene approximately ten minutes later. It's taken us approximately 25 to 30 minutes to extricate the one person in the car, he was trapped in the drivers seat," says Chief Wile.

Warren Township VFD got help from Barlow VFD, Devola VFD, and Marietta Fire Department.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says charges are pending.

The Warren Township Volunteer Fire Department says a 2 vehicle accident on route 550 injures 4 people, including 2 children. They say none with life threatening injuries.

The accident happened near the intersection of 550 and Johnson Rd. near Warren Elementary School around 8:00 Monday morning.

The VFD says one of the drivers involved has been flown to OSU Medical Center in Columbus.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
