27-year-old Josh Seehorn is on a mission. Jogging and hiking more than 4,000 miles across the country.

Expanding his passion for the great outdoors solely on his own two-feet.

"I decided to do this trip because in 2011, I finished my degree in Fisheries Biology and I studied Wildlife Biology for my undergrad, so just to be outside, experience nature and learn in a different way," says Seehorn.

The Georgia native began his journey last march near San Francisco and will finish in the coming weeks in Delaware.

Hikers call the route, "The American Discovery Trail".

"It's been fun, I've had a lot of unique experiences and I stayed in a lot of interesting places, I've talked to students, I've talked to adults, I've stayed in a boat in Sausalito, California, I've slept in a giant rock house in Utah," added Seehorn.

Seehorn is partnering with Environthon, a natural resource education competition, that he once participated in.

The program encourages high school students across the country to create their own outdoor experience.

"As we get more and more involved with technology and cities continue to grow, it makes it more difficult for students to get out into the forest and out into open range land and this is just a program that exposes them to that, it also exposes them to careers in the natural resource fields," replied Seehorn.

And just when a cross country journey seems to be wearing him down, little-moments along the way keep Seehorn's feet moving from one community to the next.

"All my interactions with people have been really positive, people been really kind, they welcomed me into their homes, they've given me food, I really don't have anything bad to say about America and that has been very encouraging to me on this trip," Seehorn said.

On his way east, Seehorn will travel through Maryland and Washington D.C. on his way to Delaware. He's got just under 600-miles to go.
