It helps keep our rivers safe and at the safety council meeting today, everyone got a closer look.
The guest speaker Marietta Fire Chief C.W. Durham explained the ins and outs of the new fire boat.
Local businesses representatives all got a special lunch on the Valley Gem Barge this afternoon for the monthly safety council meeting.
Then everyone went on the top deck, to see all the different safety features and new technology the boat has for rescue missions.
"The new fire boat gives us the capability to not only fight fire but it enables us to also do dive operations off of it. It was made based as a multipurpose tool, so we could use it for dive operations, fire fighting, also rescue operations," said Marietta Fire Fighter Eric Moore.
The safety council and the Marietta Chamber of Commerce sponsored the event.
