Samaritan's Purse

Some local cub scouts showed their true spirit Thursday evening by giving back to needy kids from around the world.

The Pleasants County Cubs Scouts Pack 81 are putting together 81 shoe boxes for the non-denominational evangelical christian international relief organization, Samaritan's Purse.

They're asking for the community's help by giving them items for kids in need from school supplies to clothes and toys.

The second year event is a great tool for the scouts to learn the true meaning of giving.

"Last year, we had about I'm thinking about 9 or 10 children involved in our pack last year and we were able to pack over 20 shoe boxes so we thought this year with the help of the community here in Saint Marys that we could pack 81 shoe boxes," says Cub Scouts Pack 81 Bear Den Leader, Nicole Lowther.

For those of you near Saint Marys, the Cub Scouts Pack 81 will be accepting donations starting tonight through November 13th at the following locations:

Family Dollar and Dollar Zone on State Route 2
Phillip's Pharmacy
First Baptist Church

They're also inviting everyone to come out and put together all 81 shoe boxes at First Baptist Church on November 14 starting at 6 pm.
