(Press Release) Marietta, Ohio; November 19, 2012- On November 18, 2012, friends, family, and 4-H’ers joined the Camp Hervida Board at Camp Hervida to dedicate the Shooting Range in honor of Teresa Heilman Stone, former Washington County Extension Educator and long time volunteer.
Ms. Stone worked in The Ohio State University Extension program for more than 27 years, retiring from the Washington County Extension Office in June of this year. She was instrumental in bringing Shooting Sports to Ohio. She has worked for over ten years to build the Shooting Sports program through 4-H to the dynamic success it currently holds.
Due to Ms. Stone’s commitment, Camp Hervida, in Waterford, currently allows 4-H’ers to learn about hunting and wildlife, pistol, rifle, muzzleloader, archery, and shotgun. Each fall and spring more than one hundred 4-H’ers are taught by trained volunteers. The Shooting Sports program Ms. Stone established has allowed many youth in the county to participate in university shooting sports competition and teams and has lead to college scholarships.
A large wooden plaque will hang from the pistol/rifle pavilion at Camp Hervida naming the range on camp, Teresa Heilman Stone Shooting Range.
