Shop With A Cop

By  |

Christmas comes early for one group of local kids.

The Parkersburg Fraternal Order of Police held their annual "Shop With a Cop" program, inviting 100 underprivileged children to spend $100 at the Walmarts in Vienna and the southside of Parkersburg.

Area law enforcement officers shop with the kids while they pick out whatever they want - which of course means lots of toys.

Police say it's just as much fun for them as it is for the kids

"I can't think of anything that is more important than doing this this time of the year," says Chris Morehead, President of the FOP Lodge. "Christmas is something that's not only religious but for the kids as well and we want to make sure they have the best Christmas possible. So I enjoy it quite a bit. I wouldn't miss it."

The Wood County Sheriff's Office, state police, and the department of natural resources are among the many local agencies that work together to raise funds for the annual shopping spree.
