State Route 7 Near Newport Reopening Wednesday Following Rock Fall

State Route 7 near Newport is set to reopen Wednesday, following a rock fall.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says the rock fall has been repaired.

The portion of the southbound lane that had been shut down is reopening Wednesday by 5:00 p.m.
The southbound lanes on state route 7 are closed near Newport due to rock fall, will remain closed for 45 days.

Traffic will be opened in northbound lane and will be maintained by flagger until a traffic light is put up.

ODOT says the lanes will remained closed for 45 days, while they work to fix the problem.
