Employees of the Ohio Attorney General's Office visit Marietta Wednesday, helping people stay a step ahead of scammers.
The Southeast Ohio Community Fraud Forum happened at the Lafayette Hotel.
The forum educates people about the latest scams including consumer, healthcare and charitable fraud.
Participants also learned about crime victims' rights.
"Attorney General Mike DeWine himself, his big goal is to protect Ohio families. So we want to be able to get the word out not only about what scams we're seeing and how people can be affected but more importantly, how they can protect themselves from becoming victims," said director of consumer education Melissa Szozda with the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
Attorney General Mike DeWine started the fraud forums two-years-ago.
Other topics covered Wednesday included financial fraud and nursing home theft.
