UPDATE 5/27/2013 7:05 PM
Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks says 35-year old Michael Good is in custody tonight and charged with attempted murder, to his girlfriend's husband.
It all happened last night in Newport. When Amanda Carter and her husband Richard Carter were fishing on the shore next to the St. Mary's bridge.
Sheriff Mincks says Good shot 24-year-old Richard Carter twice. Once in the shoulder and once in the face.
Good saw a picture of the two fishing on Facebook and that's when he went down to find them.
Sheriff Mincks says Good was dating Carter's wife while he was in jail.
Carter's wife called 911 and drove him to St. Mary's hospital. He was flown by helicopter to Charleston Area Medical Center where he's in critical condition, with non-life threatening injuries.
Detective LT. Mark Johnson from the Washington County Sheriff's Office says says they have two eye witnesses who were there right before the shooting that saw Good and he was the one that shot Carter.
"West Virginia state troopers and officers from our office went over, did a search warrant, placed him under arrest, they've done a search warrant at his house, as well as his vehicle," said LT. Johnson.
Johnson says Good is in custody in West Virginia and will soon be transported to Washington County. A warrant will be put out for his arrest and he will face charges. Johnson believes he will not be given bail and he will not leave custody.
LT. Johnson says Carter has already had one surgery today and is waiting on another this afternoon.
Officials have found a weapon, are compiling evidence and still investigating the case.
