Staffing Cut At Ohio Tourist Information Centers

By  |

People who stop by the welcome center north of Marietta can still get information on travel destinations.

It just no longer comes from a person.

The Ohio Department of Transportation cut staffing for a dozen information centers around the state, including the one at the Washington County rest stop.

The rest stop itself remains open, but the information center is no longer staffed.

ODOT's Columbus office says the former information center workers were offered jobs elsewhere in the department.

The travel centers, which operated at rest stops, mostly on the Buckeye State's interstate highways operated for decades.

The Marietta rest stop first opened in the 1980's.
