Despite the rain, one local community holds their annual event to bring in the holiday spirit.
Williamstown holds its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony indoors at United Methodist Church Thursday evening.
The large crowd gathered at the church to see the lighting of the traditional tree.
Williamstown Elementary Choir, Wood County Christian Choir and the Williamstown High School Marching Band were there performing holiday songs.
"Christmas is a time of sharing, of course we remember the reason for Christmas for the birthmark Christ child so that gives us the love and kindness to share with all the people and Williamstown is known as a community of sharing so it's so wonderful when we can get together for this Christmas Tree Lighting," says Williamstown Mayor, Jean Ford.
Cookies and hot cocoa were also available.
Marietta has postponed its Christmas Tree Lighting for this Saturday evening at 6.
The Parkersburg tree lighting is still on for Friday night.
