Strong Thunderstorms Move Through the Valley; High Water Reported

The Wood County 911 center says high water has receded and roads are passable.

According to the Wood County 911 center, motorists should avoid the following areas due to high water:

Lake Washington at Harris Highway
Lubeck Road at the overpass
Gihon Road at Dupont Road
College Parkway near Parkview
1000 block of Meldahl Road
3400 block of Southern Highway
Pond Creek and Pinnike Road
Elizabeth Pike at Southern Highway
Elizabeth Pike near the Wirt County line
300 block of Winding Road
Core Road and Altman Avenue.

* AT 1028 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED VERY HEAVY RAIN FROM A THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WARNED AREA.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
WILLIAMSTOWN...WASHINGTON...VIENNA...LUBECK...BOAZ AND BELMONT

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

IT WILL ALSO CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...COUNTRY ROADS...AS WELL AS FARMLAND ALONG THE BANKS OF CREEKS AND STREAMS.

DO NOT DRIVE YOUR VEHICLE INTO AREAS WHERE THE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. THE WATER DEPTH MAY BE TOO GREAT TO ALLOW YOUR CAR TO CROSS SAFELY. MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND.

A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL AFFECT EASTERN ATHENS...EASTERN MEIGS...NORTHEASTERN MASON...NORTHERN JACKSON...SOUTHERN MORGAN...WEST CENTRAL WIRT...WESTERN WASHINGTON AND WESTERN WOOD COUNTIES...

AT 9:42 PM EDT...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WAS LOCATED 8 MILES SOUTH OF FORKED RUN STATE PARK...MOVING NORTH AT 45 MPH.

WIND GUSTS TO 50 MPH AND PEA-SIZED HAIL ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS STORM. VERY HEAVY RAIN WILL FALL FROM THIS STORM...AND WILL CAUSE WATER TO POND ON ROADS AND QUICKLY FILL ROADSIDE DITCHES AND SMALL STREAMS.

THIS STORM WILL BE NEAR BELLEVILLE...AND REEDSVILLE AROUND 9:55 PM...TUPPERS PLAINS...AND MINERAL WELLS AROUND 10:00 PM...WASHINGTON...LUBECK...COOLVILLE...AND DAVISVILLE AROUND 10:05 PM...LITTLE HOCKING AND BLENNERHASSETT AROUND 10:10 PM.
