Blackberries are in full swing and the Sweetapple Farm Market and preparations are already underway for the Fall.
"We'll have blackberries for at least another three or four weeks," explains Mona Barrett the owner of Sweetapple Farm Market. "We have many red ones that will turn ripe to eat. We have a nice mowed area for the people to pick blackberries... and there are no thorns on them."
Dry conditions across the country have had many farmers in a panic with their crops suffering the extreme heat. Barrett says she's had overwhelming good luck in her fields and has already begun working on one of Sweetapple's most popular attractions- the corn maze.
"We were very fortunate this year that every time we planted it rained right away," Barrett says. "I know we aren't having a lot of rain in many areas but we've been very fortunate and our corn maze is high. The corn is about 6 feet high or more."
Blackberry picking is underway everyday at the farm and corn maze and hay rides begin on September 8th. No matter when you head out to Vincent there's something for everyone at the farm.
"It's just been a lot of fun for the family and for our immediate community here," Barrett adds.
